Newsline: Chinese embassy in Delhi protests Indian MPs’ attending Tibetan reception

A week after the Tibetan government-in-exile (Central Tibetan Administration -CTA) hosted a dinner reception for Indian parliamentarians, the Chinese embassy in Delhi lodged a strong protest with the attendees, expressing “concern” over meeting with what they termed a “separatist” organisation. The missive from the Chinese embassy was sent out by Zhou Yongsheng, Political Counsellor, wherein he wrote, “I have noticed that you have attended an activity held by the so-called ‘All-Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet’ and interact with some members of so called ‘Tibetan Parliament in Exile’. I would like to express our concern on that.” (https://www.msn.com/en-in/news/other/china-protests-indian-mps-attending-tibetan-reception-tibet-govt-in-exile-fires-back/ar-AASkHhN) Strangely, the Chinese mission wrote directly to the participants rather than taking up the matter through diplomatic channels with the Ministry of External Affairs. India Today still awaits a response from the ministry. At least six MPs had attended the event on December 22 at a hotel in Delhi.
