The German military said a first military plane had landed in Khartoum as it started an evacuation operation for about 200 citizens from Sudan but added that the evacuation of them and nationals of other countries “would take some time”. Italy’s foreign minister said some 140 Italians would be evacuated from Sudan, plus around 60 people from other countries.
